New Harbor Capital Completes Digital Divide Campaign
The New Harbor team wants to thank the numerous companies and individuals who generously donated to our digital divide campaign this summer. Thanks to your generosity, we sourced nearly 1,200 computers for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) families. These donations will ensure that families in need have computer access at home in time for the new school year.
Read some of their stories below:
“Hannah Grace is eight and will be in 3rd grade this year. The computer helps us access technology and provides a solid basis to learn. I don’t have to worry about issues with going to the library for a computer. This is much more convenient and comfortable so she can succeed!” – Tiffany, Hannah Grace’s mother
“I’ll be in 6th grade and I’m going to use the computer to get on cool websites and learn. I’ll be able to do Zoom talks with my teacher and principal.” – Michael
“Michael is really interested in robotics, so I hope the computer can help him explore that and have access to other free programs he can utilize.” – Catrise, Michael’s mother
“We have two boys, ages 8 and 6 who will use the computer for school. They will be in 1st and 2nd grades this year. Virtual learning was going to be scary without a computer. It will also help me fill out job applications – being able to get on the web will be really helpful.” – Destiny, mother of two
These efforts would not have been possible without the support of our two nonprofit partners, Comp-U-Dopt and Kids First Chicago. Both organizations continue to work tirelessly to ensure children and families have access to high-quality educational tools and resources. “This project has been very fun for the whole New Harbor team,” said Ed Lhee, Partner at New Harbor Capital. “It was deeply gratifying to see how everyone banded together including our portfolio companies, many of our investors and other business relations. Serving others makes the heart grow, and it is infectious!”
